The Staff Analyst performs technical, administrative, and program support functions for an assigned unit, division, or program. The role serves as a bridge between administrative support staff and professional analysts by conducting research, maintaining records, preparing technical documents, supporting compliance activities, tracking budgets, and coordinating projects. In this specific assignment, the Staff Analyst supports the Grants, Claims & Compliance Unit's Pre-Award Team by researching funding opportunities, assisting with grant applications, coordinating with project teams, and maintaining program documentation.
GeneralStaff Analyst Responsibilities
- Perform technical and procedural work supporting unit and program operations.
- Research, interpret, and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Prepare and process technical documents, contracts, grant applications, reimbursement packages, and related materials.
- Research, compile, analyze, and summarize data; prepare reports and recommendations.
- Maintain records, databases, and tracking systems while ensuring data integrity.
- Assist with budget development, monitoring, invoice processing, and financial tracking.
- Prepare reports, correspondence, agendas, presentations, and technical documentation.
- Serve as a liaison with internal staff, external agencies, and the public.
- Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, and document meeting outcomes.
- Research and identify grant funding opportunities for District projects.
- Assist with grant application development and submission.
- Complete required grant and administrative forms.
- Draft, write, edit, and proofread grant-related documents.
- Coordinate with project teams and District departments.
- Work with GIS and Graphics teams to support grant proposals.
- Maintain digital records and update unit manuals.
- Manage correspondence through Microsoft Teams and email
- Three (3) years of experience performing administrative support and technical duties.
- Experience researching, compiling, and analyzing information.
- Experience preparing reports, documentation, and business correspondence.
- Experience maintaining records, databases, and tracking systems.
- Experience supporting compliance, operational, or programmatic activities.
- Grant research, grant writing, or grant administration experience.
- Experience completing grant application packages and government forms (including SF family grant forms).
- Experience supporting public sector, compliance, finance, or program administration functions.
- Experience working with budgets, financial tracking, and spreadsheet analysis.
- Experience interpreting government regulations, policies, legal codes, or funding requirements.
- Experience coordinating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
- Document preparation and editing.
- Data entry and database management.

- Report generation and research support.
- Written business communication.
- Use of common office software and desktop applications.
- Spreadsheet and database development/maintenance
