Berliner Cohen LLP, a mid-sized law firm in downtown San Jose, has an immediate opening for a Calendar Clerk.
Requirements include: a minimum of three (3) years of administrative experience. Must have a professional appearance and demeanor with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Candidates should have top-notch organization skills, attention to detail, proficiency with Microsoft Word applications, word processing, cloud-based databases, spreadsheets, time management, analytical skills, and the ability to prioritize.
Preferred Experience: Someone with experience working in a law firm as a calendar clerk (docketing) or litigation secretary. Familiarity with California Superior Court and District Court Dockets rules/procedures. Plus, experience with Compu Law or Milana.
Core Competencies: teamwork, planning, organization, adaptability, problem solving, and initiative.
This is a full-time office position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (in-office role).
- Ability to review and read pleadings (court documents) and discovery to capture deadlines.
- Researching legal definitions and codes
- Entering and calculating deadline dates (attention to detail)
- Other duties assigned related to the position

The successful candidate's hourly rate for this position is $25 to $30, and is reasonably expected to be within this range; however, actual compensation will depend on a variety of factors, including, without limitation, the candidate's qualifications and experience.
