Primary PurposeThe Operations & Safety Technical Trainer leads a high impact onboarding experience for new Field Service Technicians equipping them with the skills, knowledge and mindset to operate safely, efficiently and in full compliance with company and regulatory standards. This role blends classroom instruction with hands‑on instruction covering safety protocols, DOT compliance, truck operation, sanitation procedures, and customer service excellence. The trainer also supports ongoing development through refresher training and skill reinforcement for current employees.
EssentialFunctions
- Delivers a structured, engaging, day onboarding program across classroom, yard, and route settings for new Field Service Technicians.
- Facilitates refresher training and re‑certification for current Service Technicians to reinforce safety, compliance and service standards.
- Trains technicians on safe driving, maneuvering, and operation of service trucks.
- Teaches sanitation service procedures including cleaning, deliver and pickup of portable restrooms, safe.
- Ensures full compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and EPA regulations.
- Conducts performance assessments and provide real‑time coaching and feedback.
- Certifies trainees (and employees) on safe vehicle operation and service standards
- Maintains accurate training records, certifications, and evaluation forms.
- Collaborates with Safety, Operations, and HR teams to continuously improve training content and delivery.
- Models and reinforces a culture of safety, accountability, and customer service excellence.
- Adjusts training schedules to accommodate holidays, s weather, or operational needs.
- Facilitates smooth handoff of trainees to Branch Managers.
- Supports onboarding logistics, documentation and trainee engagement.
- Identifies and addresses curriculum gaps with actionable recommendations for improvement.
- Prepares training materials and ensures AV readiness for best in class experience.
- Issues electronic certifications to trainees upon course completion
Preferred: CDL (may be required depending on region) / OSHA 10/30 certification.
ExperienceMinimum 5 years of experience in field operations and safety training or technical instruction.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Adult Learning Principles and instructional design
- DOT and FMCSA regulations (e.g., hours of service, inspections)
- Sanitation industry standards (OSHA, EPA, internal SOPs)
- Service truck operation and maneuvering
- Incident prevention and emergency response protocols
- Instructional delivery in both classroom and field settings
- Demonstration and hands‑on coaching
- Performance assessment and gap identification
- Clear, respectful communication and feedback
- Classroom and route management
- Use of LMS, GPS, tablets, and digital forms
- Adapt to diverse learning styles and skill levels
- Maintain authority while being approachable
- Model safe, professional behavior consistently
- Manage time‑sensitive training under pressure
- Identify and address training gaps in real time
- Bilingual (English/Spanish), a plus
- Stand and walk up to 60 minutes at a time without exertion in classroom, yard, and field environments
- Sit while driving and stand while servicing products
