Operations + People Manager

Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits (SVCN) is hiring an Operations + People Manager, a new position supporting our small, mission-driven team. Reporting to the CEO, this role oversees day-to-day organizational operations — including HR and people operations, technology systems, vendor and consultant relationships, financial process coordination with our outsourced bookkeeper, and governance and board administration. You'll help keep SVCN's systems, processes, and infrastructure running smoothly so we can focus on our mission: strengthening the capacity, sustainability, and voice of Silicon Valley's nonprofit community.

This is a hybrid role based in San José.

Position Summary

The Operations + People Manager at Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits (SVCN) is a key management position that reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and helps ensure the smooth and effective operation of the organization. This multifaceted role combines organizational operations, people operations, technology systems, vendor management, governance administration, and organizational compliance.

The Operations + People Manager works closely with the CEO, policy and program managers, operations staff, and external consultants to support organizational effectiveness and a positive employee experience. The position serves as the operational backbone of the organization, helping maintain the systems, processes, and infrastructure that allow SVCN to achieve its mission.

The Manager is responsible for overseeing administrative processes and workflows; human resources administration; technology and systems management; facilities and equipment; vendor and consultant relationships; selected grant and contract administration functions; governance administration; and organizational compliance. The Manager also serves as the primary liaison with SVCN's outsourced finance professionals, coordinating accounts payable and receivable processes, payroll administration, revenue and expense tracking, financial documentation, and routine financial reporting.

This position includes both strategic planning and hands-on implementation. Because SVCN is a small, mission-driven organization, the Operations Manager will serve as both a manager and a doer—developing systems, supervising staff, coordinating organizational initiatives, managing vendor relationships, and directly supporting operational needs when appropriate. Responsibilities include supervision of operations staff, organizational project management, vendor coordination, governance administration, and support for organizational events, retreats, and board operations.

SVCN operates in a hybrid work environment. Currently, staff members are expected to work from the office a minimum of two days per week and attend additional in-person meetings, events, retreats, and organizational activities as needed.
