Construction Manager – Transportation

• Serve as the Owner’s professional representative on bridge, roadway, and general civil construction projects
• Work with technical field inspectors and project team members to meet civil construction project goals
• Perform construction engineering duties for roadways and bridges
• Manage project Quality Control and Quality Assurance
• Manage professional and technical staff and contract administration
• Review change orders, shop drawings, materials testing, and surveying activities
• Conduct weekly project meetings and oversee utility coordination
• Arrange materials testing, surveying, grade verification, and process payment requests
• Ensure EEO/labor compliance
• Prepare progress and final documentation meeting State and Federal Highway Administration requirements
• Manage major projects or multiple moderate-scope projects with complex features
• Prepare and review project documentation for conformity and quality assurance
• Advise management and staff on civil construction practices
• Supervise staff and manage project profitability
• Maintain assignment scopes, budgets, and schedules
• Prepare proposals for professional construction services under a Principal Construction Manager
• Resolve inspection and contract administration issues
• Conduct job performance evaluations
• Serve as primary client and approving-agency contact

• BS in Civil Engineering
• California registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) required
• 7+ years construction contract management experience related to roadway and/or bridge construction projects
• Working knowledge of CALTRANS and local agency projects desired
• Experience with document coordination on federally funded projects desired
• Able to effectively manage people
• Must be able to regularly talk, hear, and operate a computer, keyboard, and mouse
• Must occasionally lift, pull/push, and carry up to 20 pounds with accommodations
• Travel to other BKF locations and client sites may be required

Demonstrates expertise in civil construction project management, including Quality Control and Quality Assurance, while ensuring compliance with State and Federal Highway Administration requirements. Proficient in managing professional staff, contract administration, and project documentation for roadway and bridge construction.
