Position Duties

The Community Services Aide classification is covered by the current Minimum Wage, $18.45 hourly. This salary range includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non‑pensionable compensation.

INTERVIEWS ARE TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED TO TAKE PLACE BETWEEN END OF MARCH AND EARLY APRIL.

The Department is accepting applications for Community Services Aides for our various park locations. The following locations have positions available:

  • Emma Prusch Farm Park
  • Happy Hollow Park & Zoo (HHPZ)
  • Placemaking – Viva Parks and Paint the CitySJ

Community Services Aides are an intricate part of parks operations, requiring the highest level of customer service, reliability, teamwork and interpersonal skills, and communication skills. This position is an entry‑level classification that is part‑time, unbenefited with a limit of 19 hours per week or a maximum of 1,040 hours per calendar year. Schedules will vary seasonally, and Community Services Aides will be placed in assignments based on their availability.

There is no guarantee of hours or longevity and staff may be unassigned. Availability is needed during park operations on weekdays and weekends between the hours of 7:30 AM – 9:00 PM, holidays, and some evening hours may be required.

Community Services Aides fill many positions within the PRNS Department and are tasked with multiple responsibilities, including, but not limited to the following examples of activities:

  • Small Animal Care
  • Summer Camp
  • HHPZ Admissions and Turnstile Attendants
  • HHPZ Entertainment Team Attendant
  • HHPZ Face Painters (prior experience is not necessary)
  • HHPZ Food Service Attendants (candidates interested in this assignment must be 16 years or older to handle food)
  • HHPZ Ride Attendants (candidates interested in this assignment must be 16 years or older)
  • HHPZ Parking Attendant
  • HHPZ Celebrations Attendants
