Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) – $70/hr – San Jose, CA – Through End of School Year

The Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) provides specialized instructional services to students who are blind or visually impaired. This educator supports functional academic access, teaches braille literacy, adapts instructional materials, and collaborates with educational teams to ensure students can fully participate in their learning environment.

Through the end of the school year (high likelihood of extension into 26–27 SY)

Schedule:

Monday–Friday

Hours:

20 hours per week (8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.)

Pay Rate: $70/hour (local)

Modality:
In-person only

Openings: 1 position

• Working across three school sites (elementary through high school)
• Primary responsibility: teaching braille and producing braille materials using district-provided braille typing equipment
• Serving K–12 students who require visual impairment services
• Virtual interviews taking place ASAP
• Caseload details determined upon placement

• Teach braille literacy and support students’ access to curriculum
• Utilize braille production tools to create adapted instructional materials
• Provide direct instruction in compensatory skills needed for visual access
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and support teams
• Maintain documentation in accordance with school and state standards
• Support student independence and functional vision skill development

• Active Visual Impairment teaching credential (required)
• Experience teaching or producing braille preferred
• CPR, TB screening, and health certificate if required
• Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
• Must be at least 18 years old
