Position DescriptionThe Kinesiology Department at San Jose State University is pleased to announce a search for an Assistant Professor:
Exercise Physiology beginning in August 2026. We highly encourage candidates with specializations in strength and conditioning, applied exercise physiology, expertise in physiological assessments, exercise testing, and exercise programming to apply. Candidates who possess specializations in artificial intelligence, health technology, and/or health equity are highly encouraged to apply.

We educate our students about the breadth of the kinesiology field by offering coursework in motor learning, motor development, sport psychology, exercise physiology, biomechanics, sport history, sport philosophy, sport sociology, teacher education, adapted physical activity, measurement and evaluation, among others.

Required Qualifications- Earned Ph.D. in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Human Performance, Strength and Conditioning, Sports Science, or related discipline from an accredited institution. Doctorate must be conferred or awarded prior to the start date.
- Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate classes in Exercise Physiology, including Strength and Conditioning, Physiological Assessment, and ECG Interpretation and Exercise Testing. Ability and desire to serve on thesis committees, supervise theses/projects, and advise in both the graduate and undergraduate programs.
