Department Summary

The Industrial and Systems Engineering Department (ISE) at San Jose State University (SJSU) has a firm goal: to provide a high‑quality education to both undergraduate and graduate students. The department offers classroom instruction by best‑qualified faculty, hands‑on experience in industry‑sponsored state‑of‑the‑art laboratories, and opportunities for industry internships. It serves over 200 undergraduate and 340 graduate students.

Students in Industrial and Systems degree programs learn through hands‑on, practice‑oriented curricula that prepare them for professional careers in supply chain, operations research and data analytics, engineering management, human factors, and quality engineering. They have opportunities to work with faculty and industry sponsors to design and test processes and systems in capstone projects.
