Global Humanities Lecturer
The Humanities Department at SJSU seeks a Global Humanities Lecturer to teach core, global and optional Honors courses in the Humanities.
Duties:
- Design and teach inclusive course materials for a highly diverse student population, addressing varied backgrounds, learning styles and abilities.
- Hold regular office hours, collaborate with faculty and staff, and complete grading, assessment and curricular responsibilities.
- Organize all classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
- Deliver courses in the scheduled mode (asynchronous, synchronous, hybrid, etc.) throughout the semester.
- ABD or Ph.D. in Humanities, Women’s or Ethnic Studies, American Studies, Religious Studies, or a related field.
- Demonstrated college‑level teaching experience and strong teaching skills.
- Awareness of and sensitivity to multicultural educational goals, evidenced by cross‑cultural study, training or teaching experience.
- Record of scholarly activity and interest in continued research.
Salary ranges are based on qualifications and experience. Anticipated monthly rates (full‑time year‑long faculty):
- L‑A / Range 2: $5,507 – $5,959
- L‑B / Range 3: $6,221 – $7,481
- L‑C / Range 4: $6,825 – $9,431
- L‑D / Range 5: $8,593 – $10,347
Rates are prorated for part‑time positions.
