Brief Description of Duties
The Department of Psychology invites applicants for a pool of lecturers to teach courses, should the need arise, during the fall or spring semesters. We are seeking instructors with demonstrated, or potential for teaching excellence. Lecturers are expected to work with the Department Chair to ensure their course instruction and materials conform to university and department policies and practices, including holding office hours and participating in performance reviews.
The number of open positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the department and available funding. The fall semester runs from late August through mid-December. The spring semester runs from mid/late January through mid/late May.
Positions that become open will generally be for undergraduate classes, although those for graduate-level instruction may occasionally become available. The department offers a broad array of courses that can be found in our course catalog. Instructional needs vary from semester to semester, but areas in which the department most frequently has openings include the following:
* Writing Workshop (PSYC 100W)
* Statistics (STAT 95 and STAT 115)
* Research Methods (PSYC 18, 117, 118, 121A-E)
* Demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a student population of great diversity-including age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation-through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement.
* Faculty shall organize all their classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
* All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester or term, in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes (i.e., asynchronous, synchronous, bichronous, in-person, or hybrid).
Required Qualifications
* A master's or doctorate degree in Psychology or a closely related discipline.
* Knowledge of the subject matter of the discipline to which the individual may be assigned.
* Ability to teach and evaluate post-secondary learners.
* Applicants should demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching, and other comparable experiences.
Preferred Qualifications
* For teaching graduate courses, a Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely related discipline.
* Demonstrated teaching excellence in a two- or four-year college/university

Anticipated starting salary:
L-A / Range 2 - $5507 - $5959
L-B / Range 3 - $6221 - $7481
L-C / Range 4 - $6825 - $9431
L-D / Range 5 - $8593 - $10347
Range salaries above are the anticipated monthly salary rate of full-time AY faculty--part-time rates are prorated. There are 6 monthly payments per semester (full-time AY annual salary = rate x 12). See the Faculty Salary Schedule for more information.
