Tutor and Teaching Assistant - Game Production & Design

Position Summary

The Tutor/Teaching Assistant supports faculty and students in game production and design courses, contributing to a creative, collaborative, and technically proficient learning environment. The role involves assisting with demonstrations, providing one-on-one or group tutoring, offering feedback on assignments, and helping students navigate tools used in character rigging, modeling, environment design, level creation, and production workflows.

Courses Supported: Character Rigging, Environmental Art, Modeling, Level Design for Single Player Games, Foundations of Interactive Design, Senior Game Studio I & II, Full Game Pipeline and Production

Key Responsibilities

• Support faculty in course delivery, grading assistance, and managing project milestones.
• Provide tutoring and technical guidance on 3D modeling, rigging, texturing, level design, and production pipelines
• Assist students with troubleshooting software and integrating creative tools into their projects
• Foster experimentation and curiosity-encouraging students to explore emerging technologies and AI-assisted tools in creative production
• Maintain a professional and inclusive learning atmosphere that promotes collaboration and innovation
• Contribute to lab organization, asset library management, and project documentation
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education:

• Minimum Sophomore at University of Silicon Valley
• Maintain a 3.00 GPA (Current Students only)
• Have taken classes they tutor
• Has recommendation from instructors for classes they will tutor
• Strong foundation in digital art, game design, or related discipline
• Familiarity with industry-standard tools such as Maya, Blender, Unreal Engine, Unity, Substance, or equivalent
• Enthusiasm for creative experimentation and integrating AI-driven tools in modeling, animation, or design workflows
• Excellent communication skills and a passion for mentoring peers

Skills:

• Informative and expert tutoring and professional lesson planning
• Maintaining a schedule
• Maintain regular communication with professor and tutees
• Expert knowledge of subjects tutored, and lesson plans taught

Working conditions

Tutoring work is on campus and either in library or classroom, or occasionally in a studio or lab space. Virtual tutoring may apply oring position requires the use of writing materials, computer software, and audio hardware and software.

Physical requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate verbally and actively listen. The employee frequently must sit for prolonged periods and use hands and arms for activities such as keyboarding and other computer-related tasks.
