Brief Description of Duties

We invite applications for a pool of part‑time lecturers to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in chemistry, including biochemistry, analytical, physical, organic, and inorganic chemistry. The pool remains in place for two calendar years; applicants wishing to stay beyond this period must reapply. Lecturers are expected to teach small to large lecture courses as well as laboratories and to demonstrate excellence in teaching.

Teaching assignments begin at the start of a semester and may be renewed based on departmental need, funding, and performance.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in chemistry or an equivalent degree (strongly recommended).
M.S. in chemistry with teaching experience may be considered for selected laboratory courses.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Commitment to student learning and team performance.
Awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population gained through cross‑cultural study, training, teaching, or comparable experience.

Compensation

Compensation and salary range placement are determined by qualifications and experience. Anticipated starting salary:

L‑A / Range 2 – $5,507 – $5,959
L‑B / Range 3 – $6,221 – $7,481
L‑C / Range 4 – $6,825 – $9,431
L‑D / Range 5 – $8,593 – $10,347

Range salaries above are anticipated monthly salary rates for full‑time academic‑year faculty; part‑time rates are prorated. Six monthly payments are made per semester. Application Procedure

This process creates a pool of applicants for chemistry lecturer pool positions. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis as positions become available. Employment Conditions

Faculty employees must complete mandatory CSU training, including preventing discrimination and harassment, Title IX, and health and safety. The faculty member will be subject to ongoing Clery Act review for designation as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and must report Clery incidents as required.
