The Department of Art and Art History offers BA, BFA, MA, and MFA degrees and is accredited by NASAD. The position is a temporary lecturer teaching undergraduate seminars in Art.

Responsibilities
  • Address the needs of a diverse student population through course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement.
  • Teach one or more undergraduate seminars such as "The Artist in Contemporary Culture" and "Medium and Message."
  • Courses may be hybrid or online but must include a substantial studio component and be required for all Art students.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and assessment and evaluation activities.
  • Encourage critical thinking and iterative concept development in class assignments.
  • Promote interdisciplinary collaboration with peers in all programs within the department.
  • Contribute to curriculum development as an artist or researcher.
  • Use Canvas LMS to organize classes and keep students informed.
  • Ensure all classes meet as scheduled throughout the semester or term.
Qualifications
  • Master of Fine Arts or Ph.D. in Art History, Visual Culture, or related field with substantial experience teaching studio art at the university level.
  • Demonstrated artistic and/or scholarly achievement with a significant portfolio of creative work and research interests.
  • Familiarity with emerging areas of artistic practice and theory.
  • Strong reading, writing, and assessment skills for undergraduate students.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population.
Compensation

Salary ranges are based on qualifications and experience. Annual grades and anticipated monthly salary rates for full‑time equivalent faculty are listed below (part‑time rates prorated). See faculty salary schedule for details.

  • L‑A / Range 2 – $5,507 – $5,959
  • L‑B / Range 3 – $6,221 – $7,481
  • L‑C / Range 4 – $6,825 – $9,431
  • L‑D / Range 5 – $8,593 – $10,347
