The Department of Art and Art History offers BA, BFA, MA, and MFA degrees with accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). It supports creative and critical thinking across a variety of media and provides an outstanding technical and administrative staff.
Brief Description of DutiesThe successful candidate will teach upper‑division undergraduate survey courses, focusing on the history of Contemporary and New Media Art since 1960. Part‑time faculty may also teach lower‑division General Education courses in Art History and Visual Culture. Candidates should possess an understanding of recent debates in new media and contemporary art practices and address the needs of a diverse student population through inclusive materials, teaching strategies, and advisement.
They will also participate in 1–2 faculty meetings per semester and provide assessment data to the department.
- Demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a diverse student population, including age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation, through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement.
- Organize all classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
- Ensure all classes are offered and meet on schedule in the mode assigned.
Ph.D. in art history or an equivalent field and university‑level teaching experience; strong writing skills with the ability to direct and assess student writing; scholarly engagement in design history evidenced by presentation and publication; awareness of multicultural educational goals.
CompensationSalary ranges are determined by qualifications and experience. Anticipated monthly salary for full‑time faculty: L‑A / Range 2 – $5,507 – $5,959; L‑B / Range 3 – $6,221 – $7,481; L‑C / Range 4 – $6,825 – $9,431; L‑D / Range 5 – $8,593 – $10,347.
