Brief Description of Duties
  • Demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a student population of great diversity—age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation—through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies and advisement.
  • Faculty shall organize all classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
  • All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester or term, in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes (asynchronous, synchronous, bichronous, in‑person, or hybrid).
  • Teach in one or more program areas in Kinesiology, including undergraduate, physical activity, graduate, and general education classes provided by the Department of Kinesiology.
  • Demonstrate awareness and experience understanding the needs of a diverse student population through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies and advisement.
  • Organize classes within the Canvas LMS, the official LMS provided for the SJSU community, to ensure faculty–student connection in a common space.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of the subject matter of the discipline to which the individual is assigned.
  • Ability to evaluate adult learners and evidence of satisfactory achievement in previous academic work.
  • Previous teaching experience.
  • Aware of and sensitive to the educational goals of a multicultural population, as might have been gained in cross‑cultural study, training, teaching and other comparable experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant Master’s degree.
Compensation
  • Compensation and salary range placement are determined by qualifications and experience. For details, see University Policy S21-2.
  • Anticipated monthly salary rates for full‑time AY faculty (part‑time rates are prorated):
    • L‑A / Range 2 – $5,507 – $5,959
    • L‑B / Range 3 – $6,221 – $7,481
    • L‑C / Range 4 – $6,825 – $9,431
    • L‑D / Range 5 – $8,593 – $10,347
  • There are six monthly payments per semester (full‑time AY annual salary = rate × 12). See Faculty Salary Schedule for more information.
Employment Conditions

Faculty employees must complete CSU employee training as assigned and required, including prevention of discrimination and harassment, gender equity and Title IX, and health and safety. Faculty members in this position are required to complete Clery Act training and, if designated as a Campus Security Authority, must report Clery incidents to the institution and report to the Clery Director ulty may be required to comply with safety measures that reduce the risk of COVID‑19 transmission.

The offer of employment is conditional upon proof of eligibility to work in the United States, successful completion of a background check, and eligibility to subscribe to the collective bargaining agreement provisions between California State University and the California Faculty Association.
