Lecturer for Computer Science Authorization Courses
At the SJSU Lurie College of Education, we offer a 4-course series designed to meet the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) requirements for a Computer Science Authorization. Adjunct faculty will teach these courses in an approved hybrid modality, delivering both asynchronous and synchronous content as scheduled.
The following responsibilities and requirements apply:
- The candidate must demonstrate awareness and experience understanding the needs of a diverse student population (in age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation). This should be reflected in inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement.
- Faculty shall organize all classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
- All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester or term in the mode assigned on the class schedule (e.g., asynchronous, synchronous, bidirectional, in‑person, or hybrid).
- M.S. Degree in Computer Science or related field
- Experience working in the K‑12 school environment
- Experience teaching computer science content to K‑12 students and/or college students
- Experience teaching computer science education curriculum to K‑12 teachers and other educators
- Experience developing professional development and academic courses in computer science education
- Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population, gained through cross‑cultural study, training, teaching, or comparable experience
Compensation and salary range placement are determined by qualifications and experience. Anticipated monthly salary rates for full‑time AY faculty are:
- L‑A / Range 2 – $5,507 – $5,959
- L‑B / Range 3 – $6,221 – $7,481
- L‑C / Range 4 – $6,825 – $9,431
- L‑D / Range 5 – $8,593 – $10,347
Part‑time rates are prorated. Full‑time salaries are calculated on a monthly basis with six payments per semester.

This is a continuing open position.
Employment ConditionsFaculty employees must complete CSU employee training as assigned (e.g., Data Security, FERPA, Preventing Discrimination and Harassment, Title IX, Health and Safety). The faculty member will be subject to ongoing review for designation as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). Individuals designated as CSA must report Clery incidents immediately and complete required Clery Act training. The position requires US residency and proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
