School of Management Lecturer Pool

Overview

The School of Management at San José State University seeks part-time lecturers to teach courses at the undergraduate level. Appointments start at the beginning of a semester and may be renewed based on department needs, funding, and performance. Courses are taught on the main campus in San José, California.

• Teach undergraduate courses with excellence and engage students. Beyond designated class times, provide weekly office hours and evaluate student exams and assignments.
• Address the needs of a diverse student population through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement.
• Organize all classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
• Offer all classes as scheduled for the semester or term; in-person instruction on the San José State University campus. The School of Management does not offer asynchronous courses for lecturers at this time.

• Ph.D. or Master’s degree from an accredited university, business school, or law school.
• At least five years of relevant professional experience, and/or significant university teaching experience. Applicants pursuing a Ph.D. or doctoral degree should indicate current status in the application.
• Preference for those pursuing relevant scholarly or applied research or with significant recent professional experience in areas important to the School of Management.
• Areas of teaching include:
  Strategic Management, Business Law, Organizational Behavior, Organizational Theory, Human Resource Management (variety of topics), Business and Society, Ethics, and Introduction to Business.
• Aware of and sensitive to the educational goals of a multicultural population, as gained through cross-cultural study, training, teaching, or similar experiences.

• Preference for candidates with relevant scholarly or applied research or professional experience in the School of Management areas. All applicants will be assessed based on AACSB qualification standards.

Compensation and salary range placement are determined by qualifications and experience. See University Policy S21-2 for range placement. Anticipated starting salary is listed by range, with part-time rates prorated from full-time AY salaries.

• L-A / Range 2: $5,507 – $5,959 per month
• L-B / Range 3: $6,221 – $7,481 per month
• L-C / Range 4: $6,825 – $9,431 per month
• L-D / Range 5: $8,593 – $10,347 per month

• Statement of teaching philosophy and teaching exemplars

Faculty employees must complete CSU-mandated training as assigned and required based on role (for example, preventing discrimination and harassment, gender equity and Title IX, health and safety).
