This is a probationary, 12‑month, tenure‑track position at the Senior Assistant Librarian rank; salary commensurate with qualifications and experience (anticipated range: $90,000 - $91,000). Librarians are represented by Unit 3 of the California Faculty Association (CFA) and are eligible for campus service opportunities, sabbaticals, and other leaves. The SJSU King Library at San Jose State University is pleased to announce a search for a full‑time, tenure‑track Business Librarian position beginning in October 2026 or earlier.

Working collaboratively with a team of liaison librarians, the Business Librarian supports faculty and students in the Lucas College and Graduate School of Business. Responsibilities include developing, delivering, and assessing instruction; managing subject‑specific collections across multiple formats; and providing research and reference services aligned with curricular and scholarly needs. Librarians at SJSU are faculty who are expected to engage in library and university governance and scholarship, which are requirements for tenure and promotion.

This is a hybrid (not fully remote) position.

• Support student learning by working collaboratively with business faculty to facilitate the effective use of curriculum‑specific information resources
• Provide reference, consultative, and instructional services to undergraduates, graduate students, teaching faculty, and researchers in synchronous and asynchronous formats
• Engage in the selection and evaluation of information resources that support the curricular and research needs of business programs, faculty, and students
• Maintain familiarity with current and emerging research, scholarly communication trends, as well as AI technology in business
• Create, implement, and assess user‑centered library services and programs for assigned departments
• Build a record of scholarly and professional achievement to fulfill the University requirement of retention, tenure, and promotion
• Participate in shared governance, usually in department, college, and university committees and other service assignments
• Demonstrate awareness and experience in understanding the needs of a student population of great diversity – in age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender, identity, and academic preparation – through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement

All San Jose State University employees are considered mandated reporters under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and required to comply with CSU Executive Order 1083. Faculty must complete CSU employee training as assigned and required (Data Security, FERPA, etc.). Faculty may also be designated as a Campus Security Authority and must complete Clery Act training and report incidents.
