Role: Assistant Teachers are charged with ensuring the safety and well-being of the children in their care. Responsibilities include engaging children ages 5 to 11 in developmentally appropriate activities that promote the principles and values endorsed by the Unitarian Universalist Association. The Assistant Teacher/Childcare provider will be expected to abide by UUFS Personnel Policies, Code of Ethics, Safety Policies, and recommended behavior intervention strategies.
Communication in English is required for this position;
Spanish proficiency is a plus.
Supervisor: Director of Religious Education (DRE)
Duties Include:
- Implementing a curriculum that upholds diversity, inclusion, and social justice
- Ensuring that the space is clean, safe, developmentally appropriate, and welcoming
- Helping to record the presence of all children placed in our care and to ensure parents sign children out prior to their departure
- Once all children / youth leave the space, ensuring the area is clean and putting materials away in their assigned place for storage
- Arriving on time and providing advance notice when possible to the supervisor in the event of an emergency preventing on-time arrival and on-task participation
- Reporting any incidents where injuries occurred or where conditions or behaviors differed from what is described in the Safety Policy
Pay Rate: $19.50/hour
Typical work assignment: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. one or two Sundays per month according to schedule provided in advance by supervisor
