Department Summary
The department of Mathematics and Statistics at SJSU offers 4 undergraduate programs and 3 graduate programs, and trains students pursuing a single subject credential in Mathematics.
Responsibilities- Supervise student teachers.
- Demonstrate awareness and experience in meeting the needs of a diverse student population through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies and advisement.
- Organize all classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) and ensure that all classes are offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester or term.
- Address the needs of a student population of great diversity—age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, academic preparation—through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies and advisement.
- MA in mathematics education or education.
- California single subject teaching credential in Mathematics.
- Local high school teaching experience.
- Working knowledge of student teaching requirements for the credential program.
- Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population.
Salary ranges are determined by qualifications and experience. Anticipated starting monthly salary (full‑time academic year faculty):
Faculty employees must complete CSU employee training on discrimination prevention, Title IX, health and safety, and other mandatory training. The position is subject to ongoing review for Campus Security Authority (CSA) designation under the Clery Act.
