Middle School Science Teacher (Grades 6-8) - Ignite Curiosity in a Dual-Language Environment

At Escuela Popular, we don't just teach science—we cultivate the next generation of critical thinkers, problem-solvers, and innovators. Founded in 1986 as a grassroots community school, we have grown into a vibrant, culturally-rich charter school serving over 800 students in East San Jose. Our unique Two-Way Dual Language Immersion program celebrates bilingualism as a superpower, creating a learning environment where student identity is honored and academic excellence thrives.

We are seeking a dynamic Middle School Science Teacher who is ready to create a classroom where curiosity is king, hypotheses are tested, and every student sees themselves as a scientist.

Transform the Science Classroom into a Lab of Possibilities

In this role, you will be more than a teacher; you will be a facilitator of wonder. You'll design hands-on, inquiry-based experiences that make science relevant and exhilarating for our grades 6-8 students. As a key member of our collaborative team, you will empower students to ask tough questions, explore the world around them, and build the academic foundation for lifelong success.

What

You'll Do
  • Design Engaging Curriculum:
Develop and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned, and culturally responsive science lessons that spark curiosity and critical thinking.
  • Lead with Hands-On Learning:
Foster a love of science through labs, experiments, project-based learning, and real-world applications.
  • Champion Every Student:
Use differentiated instruction and formative data to meet the diverse needs of all learners and ensure no one is left behind.
  • Build a Thriving Classroom Community:
Create a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment where students feel empowered to take intellectual risks.
  • Partner for Success:
Maintain strong, proactive communication with families and actively collaborate with colleagues to support school-wide goals.
  • Grow as an Educator:
Engage in professional learning communities, school events, and ongoing professional development to continuously refine your practice.
