Visual Artist Coach

The East Side Union High School District (ESUHSD) is seeking a skilled and passionate Visual Artist Coach to collaborate with the Visual Arts Instructor in supporting and enhancing classroom instruction. The ideal candidate will have a broad range of experience across various artistic mediums and techniques, with a passion for mentoring and guiding students in their artistic development. This role will assist the instructor in reinforcing techniques, enhancing learning outcomes, and helping to prepare materials to ensure a dynamic and effective art education environment.

Qualifications/

Certifications:

  • Experience as a visual artist with expertise in multiple mediums (painting, drawing, sculpture, etc.)
  • Strong technical proficiency in various art forms and teaching techniques
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide constructive feedback
  • Strong organizational skills for managing materials and classroom resources
  • Passionate about teaching and working with students of diverse skill levels
  • Patient, approachable, and committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment
  • Experience teaching, mentoring, or coaching youth preferred

Key tasks/duties:

  • Assist in classroom instruction by reinforcing techniques and providing hands-on guidance to students
  • Lead demonstrations of various artistic techniques across different mediums
  • Offer one-on-one or small group coaching to students needing additional support
  • Help maintain a productive and organized classroom environment
  • Prepare and organize classroom materials and art supplies for lessons
  • Assist in planning and executing class projects, exhibitions, and critiques
  • Collaborate with the instructor to develop lesson plans and activities
