Painting Coach
The East Side Union High School District (ESUHSD) seeks a skilled and passionate Painting Coach to enhance student learning by bringing professional expertise, advanced painting techniques, and real-world creative experience into the high school Visual Arts program. This coaching role complements and extends the classroom teacher's instruction, offering students exposure to specialized skills, diverse artistic approaches, and professional standards in painting and visual design.
Through demonstrations, workshops, and collaborative projects, the Painting Coach helps students refine technical proficiency, expand personal artistic expression, and develop professional practices within the visual arts field.
Qualifications/
Certifications:
Professional painter, visual artist, or educator with demonstrated expertise in painting and visual design. Strong technical knowledge of painting media (oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, and/or mixed media). Familiarity with industry standards and current trends in contemporary painting and professional studio practice. Ability to teach career-readiness skills such as portfolio development, self-promotion, and exhibition preparation. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Experience teaching, mentoring, or coaching youth preferred.

Key Tasks/Duties:
Coach students in advanced painting methods such as color theory, composition, layering, glazing, impasto, mixed media, and digital-paint integration. Collaborate with Visual Arts teachers to design sessions that enhance and expand classroom instruction. Introduce students to industry standards in painting, including material preparation, archival practices, and presentation techniques. Guide students in building strong portfolios, artist statements, and personal branding for future educational or professional opportunities.
Model best practices in studio safety, material handling, and sustainability in the arts. Support student participation in art showcases, exhibitions, and competitions.
