Technical Theater Coach

The East Side Union High School District (ESUHSD) seeks a skilled and passionate Technical Theater coach possessing expertise in a variety of skills including but not limited light, sound, set, fight coordinator, intimacy coach, and costume design to support in-class instruction during the regular school day. Throughout the school year, the coach will work alongside credentialed theater teachers at District High Schools, supporting all theatrical students in developing skills in the field of Technical Theater.

This role includes lesson planning, instruction, and performance support at one or more school sites, contributing to high-quality technical theater education for a diverse student body.

Qualifications/

Certifications:

• Experience with technical aspects of the theater including but not limited to light, sound, set, fight coordination, intimacy training and sound design
• Experience supervising volunteers, interns, or students is preferred
• Experience working with other theater personal and outside clients

Must complete Edjoin online application, and submit Resume and Letters of Recommendation/Reference. Selected candidates must pass fingerprint clearance and provide current TB test results PRIOR to employment.

Key Tasks/Duties:
• Collaborate with the Drama director so as to align with overall goals of the course
• Guide students through the creative process of creating a lighting, sound, set and costume design
• Mentor and support students in developing their artistic skills through working on a Theatrical presentation
• Assist the school site's theater teacher by helping to maintain and perform minor repairs as needed to the theater's equipment.
• Foster student creativity, discipline, and teamwork in a culturally responsive and inclusive environment
