* San Jose Conservation Corps + Charter School (SJCC+CS) is a non-profit job training program offering
* paid* 1-year-long workforce development for young adults aged 18 to 27 ("Corps members"), empowering them to upskill themselves and their career.
* No work experience necessary, no driver license necessary, no diploma necessary to join.
* SJCC+CS is hiring Corps members specifically for its Resilience Corps program, which prepares them for careers within the City of San Jose's PRNS department. Corps members also have an opportunity to participate in an internship with the City. Operated by SJCC+CS and funded by the City of San Jose, this opportunity is available to those who meet the following requirements. If this is you, apply now!:
* Between 18 - 27 years old
* San Jose Resident
* Meets
* two* of the following barriers: (1) resides in low resource area, (2) low income, (3) currently unemployed, (4) having difficulty finding employment, (5) out of school - hasn't finished high school diploma, or (6) first generation student.

* Additionally, you must:
** Be able to follow directions.
* Be able to work in a fast-paced environment and as part of a team.
* Be able to work outside in a variety of environmental conditions, on uneven terrain (e.g. asphalt, dirt, or mud trails), walk and stand for extended periods of time, and lift/push/pull 50lbs.
* Be available 8 hours per day, Monday - Friday. Flexible scheduling is available on a case-by-case basis for charter school and college students.
* Be able to successfully complete a criminal background check

* * Natural Resource Management
* Corps members gain skills by working on various conservation and community projects such as: trail maintenance, park management and stewardship, landscaping, wildfire prevention, and more. Projects are primarily local with opportunity to travel for Emergency Response work and deep forest management projects. This is the place to be if you love working outside and getting your hands dirty while learning how to use power tools like chainsaws.
* * Zero Waste
* Corps members collect and recycle items like tires, mattresses, containers and electronic waste. They also rescue food from local grocery stores, compost food waste, and conduct zero waste outreach and public education. If you’re passionate about the environment and want to reduce the waste in our landfills, this program is a great fit!
At the end of this program, Corps members will have a foundation of project knowledge, a standard of work ethic, and an understanding of how to apply both to their next job and start their professional career.
