Job Title
Middle School Math Teacher, Long‑term substitute (October to January)
ScheduleOctober to January; start at the end of September.
Compensation$60,000–$100,000 annually, prorated based on length of substitute tenure.
Responsibilities and Core Requirements- Dedication to the school’s core values of childhood, learning, belonging, and balance
- Demonstrated success teaching middle‑school‑aged children
- Familiarity with current middle‑school math curricula and commitment to making instruction active, engaging, varied and exciting for middle‑grade students
- Ability and willingness to design, develop, implement, and revise math curricula
- Familiarity with adolescent and developmental learning philosophy
- Knowledge of instructional strategies appropriate to the middle‑school learner
- Ability to design and implement differentiated instruction to meet individual student needs
- Understanding and compassion for students with specific learning challenges
- Evidence of professional development and commitment to personal and professional growth
- Commitment to a collaborative work style
- Passion for working with children and optimism, flexibility, and patience
- Technological competence and willingness to learn
- Willingness to carry out other duties and responsibilities beyond the classroom
- Teaching credential or equivalent degree
The candidate may facilitate student meetings as part of an Advocacy program, oversee a Community & Assembly period, teach electives, and assist with organizing and chaperoning week‑long class trips once a year.
Preferred Qualifications- Minimum of 5 years classroom experience as a lead teacher
- Experience with curriculum design
- Experience with leading advisory groups
- Experience with other content areas and electives
Finalists may be asked to teach a demonstration lesson, participate in a faculty‑led interview, and provide a writing sample.
