As a Bright Bee Substitute, you'll work with school partners in San Jose who are seeking versatile and dependable Substitute Teacher to join our educational team. In this role, you will step into diverse classroom environments to provide seamless instructional continuity when the regular teacher is absent.

• Work2-5 days per week
• Full school day shifts (around 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
  )

• Prepare the classroom space and materials in accordance with provided lesson plans
• Lead student instruction and maintain behavioral expercations
• Manage daily classroom tasks, including taking attendance, monitoring hall passes, and supervising lunch or recess periods as required
• Document student progress and classroom happenings through detailed end-of-day reports to ensure the permanent teacher is fully informed upon their return.
• Support students with learning and classroom activities
• Help manage behavior using positive reinforcement
• Assist during lunch, recess, and school activities
• Work closely with teachers and school staff

• You enjoy working with kids or teens
• You're patient, reliable, and confident managing challenging behaviors
• Must be comfortable leading large groups and managing a classroom environment
• Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and pivot between different educational settings at a moment's notice.
• You're looking for flexible and/or consistent work (several of our single day assignments convert to long-term opportunities)

• Bachelors Degree
• California Substitute teaching permit or California Teacher Certification
• Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus
• Important Note about Certification: A valid California Substitute Permit is not required at the time of application; however, active progress toward certification is expected during the interview process. Full certification is a prerequisite for employment.

To keep students safe, you'll need to:

• Pass a background check
• Follow safety and reporting guidelines
• Complete required school clearances which you are responsible for paying.
• Costs associated with the clearance process are the sole responsibility of the candidate, as this engagement is for an independent contractor role rather than a traditional employment position. Requirements vary by state but may include the cost of a background check, obtaining a copy of any college transcript you have, and the cost of completing Mandated Reporter training. The estimated clearance cost for California substitute teachers is around $250.

Please note, assignments may require the ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
