The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at San Jose State University is pleased to announce a search for a full-time, tenure-track/tenured faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor beginning in August 2027. We are seeking applicants from Statistics, Data Science, or closely related elds with a strong record of scholarly achievement, eective teaching, and demonstrated interest in departmental governance.

The successful candidate would be teaching courses and supervising students in statistics, data science, or mathematics at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, have an active research program that ideally includes students, and participate in departmental service activities. Our department has multiple growing undergraduate and graduate programs in statistics and data science; the successful candidate will help shape the future of these programs through curricular innovation.

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics is home to about 500 undergraduates and graduate students, 28 tenure ladder faculty, 25 part-time instructors and 40 teaching associates. We strive to prepare our students in statistics and data science through an array of courses and projects for cutting edge careers in Silicon Valley. CAMCOS is a program within the department that allows students to work on industry sponsored projects under supervision from faculty and industry mentors.
