Prodapt is looking for a RF/HW Test Engineer (contract) to support RF and hardware validation across both prototype platforms and final product form factors. In this role, you will own hands‑on lab validation, debug complex hardware issues, and work closely with RF, hardware, and software teams distributed across regions and time zones. This position is ideal for an engineer with strong experience testing mobile device prototypes who can operate independently in a fast‑paced environment.
6‑month contract (Open Ended based on Performance). San Jose, CA - Onsite lab-based role.
ResponsibilitiesSupport new hardware and board bring‑up, including executing HW validation tests and debugging test‑related issues.
Isolate and root‑cause hardware problems, including schematic‑level issues, and partner with RF, software, and tools teams to drive fixes.
Perform power measurement and characterization on hardware boards, configure and monitor power rails, and review schematics as needed.
Process and analyze collected measurement data, generate clear reports, and highlight anomalies or risks.
Handle multiple parallel tasks and deliver under tight schedules in a dynamic, fast‑moving environment.
Adhere to company processes and quality standards to maintain product integrity, safety, and reliability.
Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline test suites and shorten test/debug cycles.
BS or MS in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
2+ years of hands‑on lab experience testing mobile devices or similar RF/hardware systems.
Practical experience with lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, NI power equipment, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and vector/network analyzers.
Familiarity with RF measurements including P1dB, IIP, noise figure (NF), S‑parameters, and related RF metrics.
Foundational understanding of RF receiver architecture and system‑level blocks, with the ability to read and interpret schematics and PCB layouts.
Willingness to provide on‑call support and occasionally work later in the evening when needed.
Working knowledge of Python (or similar) for test automation and data analysis.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and geographies.
