We work closely with the Manufacturing, Reliability, and R&D, groups to identify failure modes, engineer critical-to-quality specifications, and implement robust control strategies across all process areas.
What we need: We are seeking a Senior Engineer with industry experience in Process Quality. In this role, you will collaborate with process owners and operators to implement control strategies across Quantum Scape’s cell and separator manufacturing lines

What You’ll do- Develop and document a robust quality Control Plan for Quantum Scape’s pilot line. Document out of control action plans (OCAPs) and statistical process control (SPC) requirements. Collaborate with process owners and operators to implement procedures on the shop floor.
- Collaborate with process owners and operators to implement Control Plan procedures on the shop floor. Perform routine audits to ensure compliance.
- Monitor quality of each process by leveraging SPC charts, performing Cp/Cpk analysis, tracking defect rates and paretos, etc. to flag excursions. Drive continuous improvement.
- Review and refine DFMEA and PFMEA, highlighting the highest risk of failure for the design and/or process using an RPN scale.
- Leverage DOE and statistical analysis to formalize sampling protocol for go no-go testing
- Use Python or JMP to collect, clean, and analyze large data sets to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities
- Deep knowledge of quality tools and methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, DOE, SPC, root cause analysis).
- Strong analytical and statistical skills; proficiency with SQL, Minitab, or JMP is a plus.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
- Proven ability to work in fast-paced, data-driven manufacturing environments.
- 5+ years of experience in a quality or process engineering role.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related discipline) + 5 years of experience. Master’s Degree + 3 years of experience or PhD.
- Fundamental understanding of battery electrochemistry and failure mechanisms. Familiarity of electrical test and metrics.
- Certified with Six Sigma, Certified Manager of Quality, Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE).
- Work is performed in a dry room, fume hood, lab area, or glovebox requiring the use of fine motor skills
- Sitting or standing for extended periods of time
- Reaching and twisting motions with hands
- Lifting up to 25 lbs.
This position requires employees to work onsite 4-5 days per week to meet the minimum essential duties and requirements of this position. As an on-site R&D and manufacturing operations organization, in-person face to face interaction is essential to building authentic relationships, trust, teamwork, and collaboration.
Compensation & BenefitsExpected salary range for this role is from $96,650 to $147,400, and a final salary will be determined by the candidate's experience and educational background. Quantum Scape also offers an annual bonus and a generous RSU/Equity package as part of its compensation plan. In addition, we do offer a tremendous benefits plan including employee paid health care, Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), and other benefits.
