In this role, You support and administer environmental, health, and safety programs at a manufacturing facility. You ensure compliance with Cal OSHA and environmental regulations while helping build a strong, practical safety culture on site. This role fits someone with hands-on manufacturing experience who can move comfortably between the production floor and the office.
- Safety and Health
- Maintain the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).
- Conduct hazard assessments across production areas.
- Administer programs for Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Lockout Tagout, Noise, and Heat Illness.
- Lead incident investigations and corrective actions.
- Manage PPE programs and deliver safety training for employees and contractors.
- Administer Hazardous Materials Business Plan (HMBP) and maintain CERS updates for chemicals such as solvents, oils, and curing agents.
- Manage hazardous waste streams including rubber scrap with chemicals, solvents, and adhesives.
- Perform weekly inspections, labeling, and manifesting per RCRA and California requirements.
- Oversee air quality compliance related to VOC emissions from solvents and AQMD permits.
- Support stormwater pollution prevention (SWPPP) and spill control programs.
- Programs and Reporting
- Maintain EHS records and dashboards; report monthly metrics including TRIR, near misses, and waste volumes.
- Coordinate emergency drills for fire, medical, and chemical spills while maintaining fire prevention plans.
- Support contractor safety management for maintenance and equipment installation.
- Facilitate safety meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Education and Experience
- Associate or Bachelor degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
- 2 to 4 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Required:
OSHA 30, First Aid, CPR, AED. - Preferred: HAZWOPER, RCRA or DOT Hazmat, CHST or ASP.
- Bilingual English and Spanish required.
- Strong working knowledge of Cal OSHA and environmental compliance.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and strong written and verbal communication skills.
