Field/Service Technician, Hardware Engineer
The San Jose-based Field Support Engineer will be responsible for customer site preparation consultation, onsite installation, implementation planning, maintenance, and repair of Advantest/Verigy Test Systems. Responsibilities will include hardware, software, networking products, and operating systems. Install and optimize hardware/software products and configurations at customer sites. Perform onsite calibration services per Advantest recommended calibration intervals. Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve product performance problems.

- Respond to all hardware technical support needs from the assigned account(s).
- Solve complex problems related to system uptime or availability.
- Solid customer service skills to effectively communicate with customers in a professional manner.
- Strong teamwork and communication with local support team members and management.
- Ability to ‘work-to-completion’ upon short notice, which requires working overtime.
- The position requires strong electronic troubleshooting aptitude and experience servicing electronic semiconductor test equipment.
- Provide daily 8X5 onsite support at customer locations, primarily in the Bay Area.
- Travel to local other customer sites via vehicle as needed.
- Must be able to lift 40-50 pounds without assistance and be able to bend into machinery without restrictions.
- Push or pull up to 200 lbs. of test equipment and tools using a qualified cart or pallet jack.
- Transport parts or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. (assistance available when lifting item(s) over 50 lbs.).
- System repair/servicing requires frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, and occasionally working in unusual positions using full-body mobility.
- Demonstrate proficiency in equipment-specific tasks and factory-specific service scopes of work.
- Apply rigorous safety procedures and suggest safety improvements.
- Display comprehensive knowledge of equipment software and electronic systems.
- Utilize measurement tools and essential hand tools effectively.
- Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Display independence in running equipment and troubleshooting.

- Bachelor of Science (BSEE or BSME) (Required) or equivalent plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
