Job Title: RF / HW Test Engineer
Location: San Jose, CA
Duration: 6 months
Pay Range: $55 - $65/hr.
Top 3 Skills- Hands-on RF/HW testing experience with mobile device prototypes, including HW validation, board bring-up, power measurements, and RF measurements (P1dB, IIP, NF, S-parameters).
- Strong hardware debugging and analysis skills, with the ability to identify root causes, read and understand HW schematics and PCB layouts, and collaborate with RF and SW teams.
- Laboratory proficiency and automation capability, including experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, NI power instruments) and Python scripting to automate test suites.

SummaryGNSS SoC Location Group is seeking a RF/HW Test Engineer (on a contract basis) who is skilled in handling time-sensitive RF/HW platform test tasks across prototypes and product form-factors. The person in this role will be responsible for HW validation testing in the laboratory across a broad category of products, should operate with minimal supervision, and collaborate effectively across teams and geographies/time zones.
We are looking for a strong engineer with extensive experience testing mobile device prototypes.
- Support new HW and board bring-ups, perform and debug HW validation test related issues
- Isolate and identify root cause for HW issues, HW schematic issues, and work with other functional teams such as RF and SW test/tools
- Perform power measurement testing on HW boards and program/monitor power rails with HW schematic inspections
- Analyze collected data, preparing reports and identify issues
- Multi-task effectively under considerable pressure of deadlines and easily adapt within a fast-paced environment
- Follow all the company policies and procedures to ensure product integrity, safety, and good quality
- Write scripts to automate the test suites and speed up the test and debug cycle
- BS/MS in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related fields
- 2+ years of laboratory experience in mobile devices testing
- Familiarity with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, NI power instruments, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, vector analyzer, etc.
- Familiarity with RF measurements like P1dB, IIP, NF measurements, S-parameters, etc.
- Basic understanding of RF receiver architecture and system blocks with ability to read and understand hardware schematic and PCB layouts
- Willing to meet on-call support requests and support tasks later in the evening, as needed
- Familiarity with Python programming
- Ability to communicate effectively
