Job SummaryWe are seeking a Component Engineer responsible for the review, validation, and approval of data center hardware components within the enterprise component management system. This role ensures that all newly introduced components meet company standards for data quality, documentation, and attribute completeness.
The engineer will work closely with cross‑functional teams including hardware engineering, sourcing, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to define required component attributes, validate supporting documentation, and maintain standardized component categories. This role will also facilitate regular cross‑department governance meetings to review new component category proposals and attribute updates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Component Review & Approval- Review and approve new component requests submitted to the component management system.
- Verify component technical specifications, attributes, and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with internal component data standards and governance policies.
- Work with engineering, sourcing, and supply chain teams to define required attributes and metadata for new component categories.
- Maintain and update component attribute templates and classification structures.
- Ensure required documentation is attached, such as:
- Datasheets
- Manufacturer specifications
- Compliance documentation
- Qualification records (if applicable)
- Support the development and maintenance of component taxonomy and classification structures used for data center hardware.
- Evaluate requests for new component categories or attribute changes.
- Maintain consistency across component data within PLM or component database systems.
- Collaborate with hardware engineering, sourcing and supply chain, quality and reliability, manufacturing, data governance teams.
- Provide guidance on component data requirements and submission standards.
- Host and facilitate regular cross‑department component governance meetings.
- Review proposed new component categories, attribute structure changes, data standard improvements.
- Document decisions and ensure updates are implemented in the component management system.
- Identify opportunities to improve component data quality, workflow efficiency, and approval processes.
- Support automation or standardization of component onboarding and validation processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Supply Chain, or related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in component engineering, hardware engineering support, or component data management.
- Strong understanding of electronic and electromechanical components used in data center hardware.
- Experience working with PLM or component management systems.
- Strong attention to data accuracy, documentation standards, and governance processes.
- Experience with data center hardware such as servers, storage, networking, or power systems.
- Familiarity with component lifecycle management (PCN, EOL, obsolescence).
- Experience with component classification systems and metadata structures.
- Experience coordinating cross‑functional engineering or governance meetings.
$120,000 - $145,000
The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
