Step into Your New Role

Kleinfelder is seeking qualified field staff for archaeological surveys and monitoring in various locations of Nor Cal to work on a flex basis. These positions are "remote" meaning you can align to either our San Jose or San Francisco offices. You do have to be local to the Nor Cal area to complete the assigned field work. In these positions, prior experience monitoring around heavy equipment and conducting cultural surveys is preferred.

Candidates must be willing to work independently and feel comfortable directing construction crews in the field.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • BA or higher in Anthropology, Archaeology or closely related field.
  • The ability to independently identify prehistoric and historic-era cultural resources in the field.
  • 0 - 3 years of progressive experience participating in cultural resources field projects in California with a minimum of 2 being ideal.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and attention to detail.
  • Strong writing skills and clarity in note taking.
  • Experience with MS Office.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and respond quickly while working in the field.
  • Experience working on state and federal lands.
  • Experience working alongside Native American monitors in the field.
  • The ability to stand for long periods of time and hike long distances in rugged conditions.
  • Familiarity with digital field technology (GPS, total station, iPad etc.) and GIS applications and software. Previous experience using Collector a plus.
  • Previous experience preparing Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) 523 forms, monitoring logs, and survey report forms a plus.
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team
  • A California driver's license is required
  • Must have a satisfactory driving record and complete a background check
  • Candidates who reside in the North Bay are preferred

Following an offer, candidates will be required to satisfactorily complete employment reference checks, verification of professional licensure and/or educational credentials, a motor vehicle report (MVR), and a comprehensive background check.

Benefits

Kleinfelder, and its subsidiaries and affiliates, offers an excellent compensation and benefits package, including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid holidays. The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Pay Transparency Law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Hourly Range: $21.09 - $35.22.
