Overview

Application Engineer – Cadence Systems, San Jose, CA (Rotational Program). This role is a full-time entry-level position for STEM bachelor graduates who are strong in electronic design automation (EDA) tools. The program spans two six-month rotations covering Digital Design/Simulation, Physical Design, Analog Layout, Advanced Verification, and Hardware Emulation. After completion, the employee will assume a permanent role within a CST business group based on interests and company needs.

• Provide front-line design services, technical sales, and customer support to Cadence’s most advanced customers.
• Collaborate with technical experts and the sales team to develop innovative solutions to customer challenges.
• Participate in detailed hands-on training and application support across validation, synthesis, timing, and implementation domains.
• Assist in design verification, sign-off for timing, IR drop, power analysis, and analog/custom design.
• Maintain documentation, support tickets, and knowledge base updates.

• Recent STEM bachelor’s graduate with experience in EDA tools.
• Foundation in digital and physical design, HDL synthesis, timing analysis, and design verification.
• Experience with embedded software development, HW/SW co-design, and scripting languages (Perl, TCL, Python). UNIX C/C++ familiarity.
• Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.

The annual salary range for California is $74,200 to $137,800, with potential incentive compensation (bonus, equity). Benefits include paid vacation, paid holidays, 401(k) with employer match, employee stock purchase plan, and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
