We are seeking a Control Systems Engineer to support the design, programming, and implementation of Building Management Systems (BMS) for commercial facilities. This role is responsible for developing fully functional building control systems using project scope documents, mechanical plans, and system specifications.
The Control Systems Engineer will create engineered design drawings, develop sequences of operation, and program controllers using function block programming. This position works closely with project teams and field personnel to ensure each system is designed, programmed, and implemented to meet project requirements.
Common systems and equipment may include VAV air handler systems, hot water and chilled water plants, electrical system integrations, and variable refrigerant fan coil systems.
Key Responsibilities- Execute Building Automation projects according to project schedules, design documents, and scope requirements
- Develop engineered design drawings that support the intended performance of the building control systems
- Create sequences of operation to communicate system design, programming requirements, and operational parameters
- Develop application software for system operation using function block programming
- Program and configure Building Automation System databases
- Develop system graphics using graphical editing tools
- Build intuitive and cohesive user interfaces for building operators
- Review mechanical plans, specifications, and project scope documents to support system design
- Address technical questions and concerns from field personnel
- Support communication between engineering, project management, field teams, and other project stakeholders
- Maintain project quality and integrity by following industry standards, internal processes, and best practices
- Work across multiple projects with varying schedules, technical requirements, and customer expectations
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Mechanical aptitude and practical engineering judgment
- Familiarity with Automated Logic or similar building automation platforms
- Ability to interpret HVAC mechanical plans and specifications with guidance
- Strong project visualization and schematic design skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
- Experience with Bluebeam PDF editor
- Technical writing ability
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- 5+ years of related experience in HVAC, building controls, construction, or a relevant internship
- Experience or exposure to Building Management Systems, Building Automation Systems, or HVAC controls
- Experience with Microsoft Visio preferred; advanced training may be provided
- Exposure to function block programming is a plus
