What You’ll Do
Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. is looking for a DRAM application engineer to join our application engineering (AE) team in San Jose, CA. The application engineer will be responsible for technical support, primarily handling technical issues from customers and partners, joint validation efforts, self-qualifications, as well as supporting local customer engineering teams. Key emphasis will be on troubleshooting urgent problems, detecting potential issues during the early stage of a product, and coordinating with internal R&D teams.
This position will give the candidate in-depth, hands‑on experience with Samsung memory products, including signal integrity (SI) and timing analysis measurements.
- Partner effectively with key customers on memory validation and technical troubleshooting to diagnose root cause of system memory failures.
- Evaluate and validate memory‑related RAS features on next generation server CPUs.
- Proactively create experiments and tooling to detect and diagnose memory health issues.
- Perform DRAM SI/PI and timing analysis measurements.
- Develop and publish updates on resolutions and communicate findings internally.
- Drive necessary discussions with external and internal teams on test specification and methodologies to improve test quality continuously.
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
Location:
Daily onsite presence at our San Jose headquarters in alignment with our Flexible Work policy.
Job
What You Bring- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer Science or related Physical Science with 5+ years of experience or Master’s Degree with 3+ years of experience or Industry experience preferred.
- Familiar with Unix/Linux Operating System and scripting languages.
- Hands‑on experience with lab equipment including digital multimeter, oscilloscope, power supply, logic analyzer, etc.
- Experience with DRAM memory products.
- Background in Signal Integrity/Power Integrity (SI/PI) and timing measurements.
- Familiar with modern server architectures and its components (CPU, Memory, Networking, PCIe).
- Expertise in lab setup and maintenance, as well as precision PCB/component rework.
- Experience with test automation and data analysis.
- Knowledge in changing system configurations and measuring change impact.
- Strong communication skills.
- Leadership skills for driving test plans and debug activities.

Base Pay Range: $138,000 — $206,000 USD.
