Opportunity OverviewThe Nextest Business Unit (San Jose, CA) of Teradyne is looking for a mid-level Engineering Project Manager. Nextest is the market leader in Semiconductor Memory Test. The memory in your computer, cell phone, or tablet was likely tested using our equipment.
These multimillion-dollar systems involve leading edge electronics, mechanical packaging, active cooling, and complex software.
As a Project Manager, you’ll leverage your Engineering background across multiple knowledge domains, working with Engineering, Marketing, and Operations to ensure our latest systems delight our customers. If you enjoy a challenge, learning new things, and driving group success, you’ll fit right in.
Responsibilities- Lead multi-site, multi discipline, cross functional teams in an innovative, collaborative environment to define and deliver committed prototypes, demonstrations, and/or products, all using our phase gate or iterative processes.
- Successfully deliver to the agreed scope, schedule, budget, and quality while managing execution, scope changes, risks, tradeoffs, expectations, and communications.
- Responsible for successful delivery of the project goals and business results associated with them.
- Lead complex projects negotiate tradeoffs, determine and commit to aggressive yet achievable scope, schedule, and budget to deliver winning business results by applying state of the art project management tools and techniques.
- Drive and monitor all day-to-day project work, making sure that problems are resolved quickly.
- Escalate and drive issues that are out of the project team’s control through the management chain for rapid resolution.
- Lead project and phase gate approval reviews, providing clear and concise written and verbal communication to all levels of the project team and stakeholders, and tailoring style to a broad range of audiences and situations.
- Run and monitor budgets for key engineering projects by tracking material requisitions, ensuring material is delivered, and generating reports on budget status.
- Depending upon the scope of the project, you may support the Engineering NPI process for new projects by creating and monitoring schedules and budgets, generating periodic reports on project status, progress, and plans, and working with cross functional teams to ensure projects meet goals.

- Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Must have experience managing complex technical projects with electromechanical design and software elements in a product development environment on aggressive TTM timelines.
