Department Overview
New Product Introduction (NPI) Stack Team works on advanced process development for new stack and stack component designs, new materials, and innovative high-volume manufacturing methods for our factories of the future. Process scale up and transfer to high-volume manufacturing is the team’s core expertise. The team partners closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Reliability, and Supply Chain to drive successful process transfers.
Responsibilities- Design and develop new process paradigms for improved fuel cell stack performance, reliability, high-volume manufacturability, and lower product cost.
- Own and drive process transfers from NPI to High Volume Manufacturing.
- Lead engineering runs, pilot builds, and production trials, and validate processes to ensure production readiness.
- Identify process risks and trade-offs early, implement mitigation plans, and align design intent with manufacturing reality.
- Perform process mapping, optimization through DOEs, create specifications, improve yield, and qualify new vendors.
- Conduct failure analysis and materials characterization to support process development.
- Create PFMEAs, work instructions, and associated documentation to facilitate manufacturing transfers.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Ops, and other cross-functional teams to conduct 8D investigations, resolve yield issues, and implement change control for process improvements.
- Guide and mentor early to mid career engineers on the team.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical, Materials Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of experience in Process and/or Product Development.
- Proficiency in DOE, statistical analysis, and process control using JMP or equivalent software.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively within teams or independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong ownership, accountability, and drive for exceeding expectations.
- Demonstrated experience in process development and/or process transfer to high-volume manufacturing.
