Job SummaryAs a Senior Component Engineer located in the Bay Area, CA, you will engage closely with New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to evaluate and optimize Bill of Materials (BOM), ensuring compliance and efficiency in component usage. You will spearhead the identification and integration of potential second-source suppliers and track component qualification processes. This role demands a high level of collaboration with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to align Google’s product specifications with strategic sourcing objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct risk assessment on NPI BOM components and identify alternative sources for key component categories.
- Execute detailed Form, Fit, and Function (FFF) analysis and support in component selection and qualification.
- Review and manage new part attributes and collaborate with engineering teams to address issues.
- Partner with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to define product needs and enhance multi-sourcing efforts.
- Manage Engineering Change Orders and contribute to continuous process improvements.
- 5 years of in-depth knowledge of electrical component engineering.
- Proficient with PLM tools such as Agile or Windchill.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience in data center hardware and infrastructure preferred.
This role requires a minimum of 5 years in component engineering or a related field, with a strong educational background in Electrical Engineering.
