Chief Estimator

YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY:

The Chief Estimator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the division's estimating program, providing technical and administrative direction to ensure corporate objectives are met.

• Manage and administer department functions including operating budgets, staffing, wage reviews, work assignments, performance evaluations, bid results and archives.
• Implement and maintain corporate estimating procedures using the corporate computer estimating system and database.
• Assist Executives, Business Development, and Project Management to determine which projects to bid on and develop bidding strategies.
• Review all final estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to formal quotation.
• Review scope/proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects.
• Present to corporate management and clients; may be responsible for closing the sale.
• Provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts and change orders as required.
• Assist in preparing studies, materials, methods, recommendations, and cost estimates as required.

• Advanced management or technical training preferred.
• Organizational, supervisory, and decision‑making/problem‑solving skills essential.
• Proficiency in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
• Familiarity with modern computer estimating systems.
• Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and adjust priorities as necessary.
• Capability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Self‑motivation and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Professional interaction skills with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and others.

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a business‑related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in facility construction estimating and related functions, with thorough knowledge of corporate objectives, estimating strategies, techniques, and construction contracts.
• Combination of education and technical/field training such as Engineering and Estimating experience.

• Up to 10% or as required.

• General work environment – sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
• Noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on the jobsite.

• Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
