Project Manager – Underground Transportation (Heavy Civil) Infrastructure
Location: San Jose, California
Salary: $150,000–$220,000 (DOE) + Vehicle Package + Full Benefits

Are you an experienced Heavy Civil Project Manager with a specialty in underground construction and tunnel boring? Looking to lead multi-million dollar infrastructure projects in one of the most technically challenging markets in the U.S.?
We’re recruiting on behalf of a highly respected infrastructure contractor to hire a Project Manager to oversee underground and TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) projects across San Jose and the wider California metro areas.
Compensation & Benefits- Salary Range: $150,000–$220,000 depending on experience
- Vehicle Package: $11,000 vehicle allowance + fuel card OR company truck + fuel card

As Project Manager, you will lead complex underground construction efforts, guide multi-disciplinary teams, and ensure delivery meets the highest standards of safety, engineering, and budgetary control.
You’ll be the operational and strategic backbone of the project—liaising with internal teams, clients, JV partners, and stakeholders to drive successful outcomes.
Responsibilities- Manage all phases of project execution, planning, scheduling, and resource allocation
- Direct underground and tunnel boring operations, coordinating technical and construction teams
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, safety requirements, and budget goals
- Supervise site teams, allocate responsibilities, and maintain high team performance
- Monitor progress and proactively manage risks and changes
- Collaborate with engineering and technical leads to troubleshoot complex challenges
- Report updates to executive stakeholders and senior leadership
- Coordinate with joint venture partners and ensure seamless delivery
- Frequent site visits as required
- 10+ years of heavy civil infrastructure experience (with 5+ years in a supervisory/project management role)
- Proven background in underground construction is essential
- Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) experience highly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
- Experience working for General Contractors (GCs) or infrastructure contractors
- Strong technical leadership, budget control, and site safety knowledge
- Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder
- Willing to travel within California; relocation support available
