We combine materials science, chemistry, and manufacturing innovation to unlock scalable, high-performance energy solutions.

Sakuu is seeking an R&D Process Engineer to develop, optimize, and scale manufacturing processes supporting advanced battery and materials technologies. This role sits at the intersection of chemistry, materials science, and printing-based manufacturing, and will play a critical part in transitioning novel processes from R&D into production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, characterize, and optimize manufacturing processes for advanced materials and battery components with an emphasis on new and innovative disruptive technologies
  • Design and execute experiments to improve yield, throughput, reliability, and quality
  • Collaborate with materials scientists, chemists, and mechanical engineers to translate lab-scale processes into scalable manufacturing workflows
  • Support process integration for printing-based manufacturing technologies
  • Analyze process data and implement continuous improvement methodologies
  • Document processes, establish control plans, and support technology transfer to production
  • Troubleshoot process issues related to materials, equipment, or scale-up challenges

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field strongly preferred
  • Solid understanding of process engineering principles and experimental design
  • Hands-on experience working in a laboratory or pilot-scale manufacturing environment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred Experience & Expertise:

  • Knowledge of lithium-ion battery technology, including materials, manufacturing processes, or cell architecture
  • Experience with polymer chemistry, including formulation, curing, or materials characterization
  • Familiarity with printing or additive manufacturing technologies, such as ink-based, slurry-based, or multi-material printing processes
  • Experience with powder and bulk solids technology, including handling, flow, mixing, compaction, or processing
  • Experience scaling processes from R&D to pilot or production environments

What We Offer:

  • Opportunity to work on breakthrough manufacturing and energy technologies
  • Collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment
  • Competitive compensation, equity, and benefits
  • A chance to shape the future of advanced battery manufacturing
