We are looking for a  
** Sr. Staff Mechanical Engineer
** to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies.  This role will report to the
** Sr. Manager, Mechanical Design Engineering
** and will be based in San Jose, CA**.  This is a fully on-site, in office role 5 days a week**.
*
* Roles and Responsibilities:

*** Design & develop mechanical system solutions based on engineering principles.
* Utilize project management skills to track projects through all phases of design to production.
* Support design decisions with analysis and calculations, as required.
* Develop DFMEA and PFMEA’s for products and solutions to minimize project risks.
* Participate in peer-to-peer design reviews and provide critical feedback to colleagues.
* Create and manage Solid Works CAD models, drawings, and assemblies.
* Manage top level assemblies in a PDM system environment.
* Control drawing and model releases through the change control process.
* Communicate with suppliers on a technical basis to ensure a quality product.
* Coordinate with manufacturing operations to develop and implement DFM and cost reduction design actions.
* Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed for all work completed.
* Ensure resulting design drawings/documents meet all Building, Construction and Mechanical code requirements.
* Responsible for ensuring the design conforms to specifications required for the implementation of Bloom Energy fuel cell systems.
** Education, Skills, and

Experience:

*** BS in Mechanical Engineering required.
* 6-8 years of relevant experience.
* High level of accountability – proactive and persistent with the skills and disposition to take a project from beginning to end.
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
* Self-starter and desire to learn new things.
* An entrepreneurial spirit is essential.
* Excellent time management skills.
* Ability to work efficiently and effectively with multiple project and priorities.
* Professional & collaborative – comfortable working closely with a team.
* Excellent Solid Works CAD knowledge.
* Strong understanding of GD&T and drafting of mechanical components and sub-assemblies.
* Ability to use engineering analysis tools (FEA, Thermo, CFD, etc.) for design validation.
* Experience working in manufacturing, construction, and/or facility maintenance as it related to mechanical assemblies is desired.
