Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. What You'll Do- Responsible for airframe structural testing, including the fixtures design, the instrumentation design, and analysis predictions, which requires multi-disciplinary skills including structural design, structural analysis, materials engineering, and electrical engineering.
- Perform trade studies, requirements derivation, and establish the overall vehicle configuration based on requirements.
- Complete hand calculations and FEM analysis of primary and secondary aerospace structures.
- Develop company standards for model creation, strength checks, and analysis report generation.
- Compile documentation of stress analysis to support release of engineering drawings and documents.
- Work closely with and mentor designers and junior structural analysts in stress/stability/fracture analysis best practices.
- Provide technical guidance on design concepts (risk vs. cost vs. performance).
- Perform stress analysis of internal loads (FEM), static, fatigue, and/or damage tolerance to support program design, fabrication, testing, and/or structural integrity activities.
- Support test execution and analyze test results to validate and verify that designs meet requirements and specifications.
- Write detailed structural substantiation reports and other technical reports as required in order to obtain FAA airworthiness approvals.
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum Experience RequirementsSenior Structural Test Engineer or related job title in which 6 years of experience in Composite and Metallic analysis (static and fatigue), design engineering, and instrumentation engineering was gained.
Alternate Education RequirementMaster’s Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
Alternate Experience RequirementSenior Structural Test Engineer or related job title in which 4 years of experience Computer Assisted Design (CATIA V5) and Finite Element (Abaqus) - model setup and analysis (static and fatigue) for composites was gained.
Alternate Education RequirementPhD Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
Alternate Experience RequirementSenior Structural Test Engineer or related job title in which 2 years of experience Computer Assisted Design (CATIA V5) and Finite Element (Abaqus) - model setup and analysis (static and fatigue) for composites was gained.
Travel Requirement10% Domestic Travel.
SalaryFor this position we are offering $187,782 to $ per year.
