Role Overview
Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer – San Jose, CA.Fully on‑site, 5 days per week. Reports to Sr. Manager, Mechanical Design Engineering.
Responsibilities- Design and develop mechanical system solutions based on engineering principles.
- Utilize project management skills to track projects through all phases of design to production.
- Support design decisions with analysis and calculations, as required.
- Develop DFMEA and PFMEA for products and solutions to minimize project risks.
- Participate in peer‑to‑peer design reviews and provide critical feedback.
- Create and manage Solid Works CAD models, drawings, and assemblies.
- Manage top‑level assemblies in a PDM system environment.
- Control drawing and model releases through the change control process.
- Communicate with suppliers on a technical basis to ensure a quality product.
- Coordinate with manufacturing operations to develop and implement DFM and cost‑reduction design actions.
- Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed.
- Ensure resulting design drawings/documents meet all Building, Construction and Mechanical code requirements.
- Ensure the design conforms to specifications required for the implementation of Bloom Energy fuel cell systems.
- BS in Mechanical Engineering.
- 6–8 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in Solid Works CAD.
- Strong understanding of GD&T and drafting of mechanical components and sub‑assemblies.
- Ability to use engineering analysis tools (FEA, Thermo, CFD, etc.) for design validation.
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, and/or facility maintenance related to mechanical assemblies is desired.
- High level of accountability, proactive and persistent.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self‑starter and eagerness to learn.
- Entrepreneurial spirit.
- Excellent time‑management skills.
- Ability to work efficiently with multiple projects and priorities.
- Professional and collaborative, comfortable working closely with a team.
