Position: Sr. Staff Mechanical Engineer

Role Overview

Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer – San Jose, CA.Fully on‑site, 5 days per week. Reports to Sr. Manager, Mechanical Design Engineering.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical system solutions based on engineering principles.
  • Utilize project management skills to track projects through all phases of design to production.
  • Support design decisions with analysis and calculations, as required.
  • Develop DFMEA and PFMEA for products and solutions to minimize project risks.
  • Participate in peer‑to‑peer design reviews and provide critical feedback.
  • Create and manage Solid Works CAD models, drawings, and assemblies.
  • Manage top‑level assemblies in a PDM system environment.
  • Control drawing and model releases through the change control process.
  • Communicate with suppliers on a technical basis to ensure a quality product.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing operations to develop and implement DFM and cost‑reduction design actions.
  • Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed.
  • Ensure resulting design drawings/documents meet all Building, Construction and Mechanical code requirements.
  • Ensure the design conforms to specifications required for the implementation of Bloom Energy fuel cell systems.
Qualifications
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 6–8 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Solid Works CAD.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and drafting of mechanical components and sub‑assemblies.
  • Ability to use engineering analysis tools (FEA, Thermo, CFD, etc.) for design validation.
  • Experience in manufacturing, construction, and/or facility maintenance related to mechanical assemblies is desired.
  • High level of accountability, proactive and persistent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self‑starter and eagerness to learn.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Excellent time‑management skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently with multiple projects and priorities.
  • Professional and collaborative, comfortable working closely with a team.
