Senior Design Lead - Mechanical Design, CAD, Unigraphics. San Jose, California, United States
Key Responsibilities- Design and deliver next-generation networking systems (modular and fixed chassis) and cards that meet customer requirements.
- Develop innovative mechanical solutions using sheet metal, plastic, and die-cast materials that comply with EMI, safety, and other standards.
- Create 3D CAD models using Creo or NX and detailed drawings applying GD&T principles.
- Perform 2D tolerance analysis for complex electro‑mechanical assemblies.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams and suppliers to resolve design issues impacting field or production.
- Exchange PCB design IDF files with ECAD/hardware teams and address mechanical integrity concerns.
- Host peer and cross‑functional design reviews.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with 7+ years of experience designing electronic enclosures.
- Proficiency in 3D MCAD tools (Creo/NX).
- Experience with sheet metal design for mid to high volumes, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal, plastic, and die‑cast tooling.
- Experience in mechanical design for computer/network equipment in data centers preferred.
- Experience with soft and hard tooling guidelines for sheet-metal parts.
- Design and manufacture of fixtures for experiments and prototypes.
Maximum Salary (US): 122000 Minimum Salary (US): 80000
Compensation and BenefitsA candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies.
