Overview

About the Role
We’re seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and execution of complex mechanical systems across large-scale commercial and mission-critical projects. This individual will play a key role in bridging engineering design with construction execution, working closely with project managers, BIM/VDC teams, and field operations to deliver high-quality, efficient systems.
This is a high-impact position ideal for someone who enjoys both technical design and real-world application within a fast-paced design-build environment.
ResponsibilitiesEngineering & Design Leadership
- Lead the design of HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems for commercial, industrial, and mission-critical projects (data centers, healthcare, etc.)
- Perform load calculations, equipment selection, and system sizing
- Develop construction documents, specifications, and engineering reports
- Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and client requirements
Project Execution
- Collaborate with project managers to align engineering deliverables with project schedules and budgets
- Support design-build efforts, including value engineering and constructability reviews
- Interface with clients, architects, GCs, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle
- Provide engineering support during construction, commissioning, and project closeout
- Work closely with BIM/VDC teams to develop coordinated 3D models (Revit/Navisworks)
- Participate in coordination meetings and resolve clashes across disciplines
- Mentor junior engineers and support team development
Quality & Innovation
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes and standards
- Identify opportunities for energy efficiency, sustainability, and system optimization
- Stay current with emerging technologies in HVAC and mechanical systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field)
- 7–12+ years of experience in mechanical engineering within MEP, design-build, or mechanical contracting environments
- Strong experience with HVAC system design (airside and hydronic systems)
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and coordination tools like Navisworks
- Experience working on large-scale commercial, healthcare, or mission-critical projects
- Strong understanding of applicable codes (ASHRAE, IMC, etc.)
- Excellent communication and project coordination skills
Preferred:
- PE license (or ability to obtain)
- Experience in design-build or contractor-led environments
- Exposure to fabrication-level detailing or field coordination
